DOUBLE YOUR HOME GARDEN in a few weeks:  A fantastic reminder from Design*Sponge that gardening should be neither expensive nor complicated.  Simplify & multiply. Just pluck a bunch of “samplings” from your current houseplants and stick ‘em in glasses, old jelly jars, beakers, what-have-you until roots sprout.  Just keep potted plants out of the bedrooms, and keep all succulents/cacti out of the house (they are dangerous and onerous and look “petrified”…!)   xx

Carrie McGee’s mixed media constructions explore variation within repeated forms. Utilizing transparent plastics as a ground, she experiments with natural and chemical processes, such as rust and oxidation, to create luminous works that emanate a meditative pulse.

Astrid Krogh is a designer who experiments with LEDs, fiber optics and solar cells in textiles. Knowing the vast amount of light that windows receive, she designed a prototype for curtains made of woven of solar cell plates. They collect energy to generate power, block sunlight, and also, according to Krogh, act as a passive heat collector.
